January sales

What is the best thing about Christmas being over and January about to begin?? No its not the fact we don’t have to eat turkey for another year and no its not the fresh start of a brand new year and no it most certainly is not the call of those new years resolutions (especially that one to go to the gym six days a week!) The best thing about this time of year is the deathing cry of the bargains awaiting us once more in the January sales!! Every style savvy home owner will be saving hundreds by making those big investment purchases in the sales but with so much in the sales what trends are worth buying into and what items will be out dated before you even get them home? Here’s my top tips as to where to invest your money to get the greatest return in fashion years.

The interiors world can be a fickle thing, what’s hot today can be gone tomorrow, the key is to read the trends, look for what will last the longest and what will be a fad. Also look at your own personal home style and be true to that. There are a number of trends that have broke through in 2011 that are set to continue strong into 2012, these are the trends to buy into. Along with some classic timeless items that will never date.
The fabric sofa has been a key theme for interiors 2011 and will become stronger and stronger in 2012. Even if you are a pattern person or a plain person there will be a fabric sofa to suit every taste. While leather sofas remain popular, fabric sofas have most certainly become very fashionable again and are set to remain so. Velvet sofas are particularly trendy and have a timeless elegant appeal.
Wallpaper has also been a unavoidable fashion trend over the last couple of years and again it is set to continue to be big news for the year ahead. From feature walls to whole rooms, wallpaper can work any where from hallways to toilets and will give  space a instant update. While reflective papers remain popular, in 2012 textured patterned wallpaper with more depth are set to become increasingly popular, so invest in this to be a step ahead of the trend curve.

When it comes to bathrooms make your choices wisely, as sanitary ware is something you don’t change often. While coloured suites have seen a resurgence, a white bathroom set is the safe bet that will never date. Choose clean sleek lines for a contemporary bathroom or ornate curving and a roll tip bath for classic setting. Then add colour with towels, paints and wallpapers.
Window treatments another great investment purchase. With the resurgence of a more ornate style of décor showing no sign of stopping, sumptuous made to meadure curtains will ramp up the luxury factor of you interiors in a instant. A well fitting, quality pair of curtains in a sumptuous silk, velvet, damask or chenille will always look rich. For a more contemporary setting Roman blinds are set to go from strength to strength. There sleek clean lines and bespoke finish, always look good and are well worth purchasing in the sales.
